چکیده

afinite element model of a bias truck tire under static vertical load using a global/local technique is designed in two parts. in the first part a previously created model for radial tires is developed to take the constructional variables of bias tires into account. it is shown that the technique can successfully be used for bias tires. the main challenge here is the selection of the initial layout of the tire, which due to the use of nylon fibers in bias tires undergo considerable variation in shapes on being released from mold. therefore, the selection of the tire lay out in the mold as the initial starting point for finite element calculations leads to significant errors in the final results. in the second part, a highly refined mesh has been created from contacting region of the tire tread pattern as a local model. this model is analyzed using the results of the first (global) model as the boundary condition. it is also shown that the developed method is capable of precisely predicting the geometry of the footprint area without any extra computational cost and efforts needed in finite element calculations of full tire models.

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Dynamic Load Carrying Capacity of Flexible Manipulators Using Finite Element Method and Pontryagin’s Minimum Principle

In this paper, finding Dynamic Load Carrying Capacity (DLCC) of flexible link manipulators in point to-point motion was formulated as an optimal control problem. The finite element method was employed for modelling and deriving the dynamic equations of the system. The study employed indirect solution of optimal control for system motion planning. Due to offline nature of the method, many diffic...

stress analysis of tractor tire interaction whit soft soil using non-linear 2d finite element method

abstract: compaction under tractors tires is of special concern because the weight of these machines has increased dramatically in the last years. these machines and others associated with crop cultural practices weight enough to significantly compact the soil, especially if the soil is soft with high moisture content during tilling, planting, or harvesting. the stress distribution and the size...

Finite Element Analysis of Different Hip Implant Designs along with Femur under Static Loading Conditions

Background: The hip joint is the largest joint after the knee, which gives stability to the whole human structure. The hip joint consists of a femoral head which articulates with the acetabulum. Due to age and wear between the joints, these joints need to be replaced with implants which can function just as a natural joint. Since the early 19th century, the hip joint arthroplasty has evolved, a...

Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Column Under Lateral Load

To serve its purpose a structure must be safe against collapse and serviceable in use. Serviceability requires that deflections be adequately small to keep the cracks within tolerable limits. Although the widely followed ACI Code suggests a detailed method of deflection calculation, it often cannot exactly perceive the actual behavior of a structure. For this purpose, finite element analysis, u...

Stress Analysis of Heavy Duty Truck Chassis Using Finite Element Method

One of the most important steps in development of a new truck chassis is the prediction of fatigue life span and durability loading of the chassis frame. The age of many truck chassis in Malaysia are of more than 20 years and there is always a question arising whether the chassis is still safe to use. Thus, fatigue study and life prediction on the chassis is necessary in order to verify the saf...
